Insights

The month, written out for you

Most apps hand you a pie chart and leave the thinking to you. Akcha compares this window against the ones before it, drops anything under $50 or 15%, and tells you the handful of things that actually moved.

Rent, bills, loan payments and everything that recurs took 35¢ of every dollar before you decided anything.

The $7,660 left is the part you can actually move.

Coverage

Two countries, one account

Hold a chequing account in Toronto and a card in New York and see them in one list, each in the currency it is held in. Anything Plaid cannot reach — a pension, a group RRSP — you add by hand and it counts the same.

Thousands of institutions across the US and Canada, through Plaid.
Every screen says when it last heard from each bank — and tells you when one stops.
Manual accounts sit next to connected ones, with the date you last touched them.

Security

Connected to your bank, and unable to touch it

Akcha asks your bank for one thing: permission to read. Everything below follows from how that connection is built.

What Akcha does

Reads balances and transactions through Plaid, the same connection your bank already trusts.

Stores its access token encrypted, with the key kept apart from the database.

Isolates every account at the database level, so only you can read your rows.

Lets you disconnect a bank or delete everything from Settings, in one step.

What Akcha cannot do

Move your money. The connection is read-only; there is no payment permission to misuse.

See your banking password. You type it with Plaid and your bank; it never reaches us.

Sell your data. No advertising, no data brokers — the subscription is the business model.

Keep your history after you leave. Deleting your account removes the data and ends the bank connection.

Questions people actually ask

Can Akcha move money out of my account?+

No. The connection is read-only and has no payment permission — there is nothing to misuse, by us or by anyone who reached our systems.

Why hasn't today's coffee shown up?+

Banks publish transactions in batches, most of them once a day. Until yours does, the charge is waiting there rather than missing here.

What happens when the trial ends?+

Nothing is charged automatically. Access pauses until you subscribe, and your data waits for you.

My bank isn't supported. Now what?+

Add the account manually and enter the balance yourself. It counts toward your net worth exactly like a connected one.

Is my data used to train anything?+

No. Your transactions are used to show you your money and nothing else — not advertising, not resale, not a model.
